Welcome
to Kenilworth Boy Scouts Troop 13.
Troop meetings are on Monday
night at 7:30
What: Warren Dunes is a magnificent state park located just off I-94 along the shores of Lake Michigan in Southwestern Michigan. The dunes are about 1 hour 45 minutes from Kenilworth. The park consists of over 1950 acres of virgin forest, steep sand dunes and sandy beaches. At this campout, younger scouts generally complete several advancements, including the five mile hike, so be prepared. The dunes themselves offer wonderful opportunities for hiking up and sliding down the steep hills of sand. Some scouts bring plastic snow boards or saucers and everyone brings a second pair of old tennis shoes to climb and swim in. If the weather is warm, swimming in Lake Michigan is always popular, especially during and after the hikes up and down the dunes.
Older scouts will organize and direct all troop activities. After dinner we will play capture-the-flag on the nearby sand dunes. Nighttime views of the lake and distant Chicago are spectacular.
Troop #13 will assemble at the Bergman Scout House (behind Sears School) Saturday morning at 8:30am sharp to load equipment. Departure is scheduled for Saturday at 9:00 AM sharp. Please reply/respond to this e-mail if you are planning to or are able to drive Scouts to the dune
Please FAX the trip permission form to Mr. Madigan at 847-897-0899 or drop off at 353 Melrose Avenue BY TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 18TH (this lets us know how much food to buy). A Permission Form has been attached to this e-mail for your convenience or can be downloaded from the Scout Website at www.kenilworthscouts.org
WHEN WE WILL RETURN:
