Welcome to Kenilworth Girl Scouts
KENILWORTH GIRL SCOUTS
ALL-TROOP CAMPOUT
WHO: All Kenilworth Girl Scout troops are invited to attend!
WHEN: Depart on Saturday, May 5 in the morning. Return on Sunday, May 6 around noon. The check-in and check-out times are 4pm and 3pm, respectively, but hopefully we can get there by noon on Saturday and start our activities.
WHERE: Girl Scout Camp McCormick, Stillman Valley, IL, near Rockford. A short drive--about 1 1/2 hours from here. We will be staying in platform tents with wooden floors and roofs and canvas sides. Each tent holds 6 people and cots with mattresses are supplied. An outdoor cooking fire ring, dining shelter, water and latrine are at each campsite. There is also a central, modern shower house with real plumbing.
WHAT: All sorts of activities, including an evening campfire with skits, jokes and s’mores, stargazing, hikes, badge work, maybe canoeing and free time to play around. Details on the scheduled activities will follow.
COST: I don't know this yet but it will probably be about $20 per person.
PERMISSION SLIPS/RESERVATIONS:
Required permission slip and packing list will be e-mailed to you, along
with more detailed information, in the next 2 weeks. The signed permission
slip and a check for the required amount, payable to Kenilworth Girl Scout
Troop 102, will reserve your place. Please return all checks and
permissions to Hester McCarthy. Transportation will be by private
car or chartered bus. Looking forward to being with you in the woods
again!

NEWS
Please remember it is important that at least one or more of the leaders in your troop be first aid certified.
A First Aider is required by both GSUSA and the State of Illinois for each Girl Scout Troop going camping, over nights and for Girl Scout activities with a potential for injury (which can be something as simple as a walk around Kenilworth!) It is good to have more than one leader certified so you wont have to cancel an activity if your First Aider suddenly cannot accompany the group on a planned outing.
How to become First Aid Qualified:
Take the internet course and a CPR course like the one offered at the Winnetka Fire Department or Red Cross.
