Troop 13

Overnight Indoor Climbing Trip & Merit Badge

Sat. March 20th to Sun. March 21st, 2010

Adventure Rock Release Form & Troop 13 release forms are both required !!

Troop 13 will visit Adventure Rock Climbing Center, an indoor rock climbing center located in the western suburbs of Milwaukee. We held this event last year, and due to popular demand, we are returning. Troop 13 newcomers will partake in rock climbing lessons designed to provide the opportunity to earn a Climbing Merit Badge. Returning climbers will receive a refresher course. While not every scout earned a merit badge last year, many scouts that tried did earn the badge. Fathers are also eligible to register for these climbing lessons at the same time as our Scouts.

At the climbing center, all Scouts will receive instruction from Adventure Rock instructors on proper equipment use, communication, climbing knots and safety. Our Scouts will have the opportunity to progress from basic climbing skills through belaying and rappelling by passing proficiency tests. There are two levels of training, first-timers will take the longer merit badge course and scouts who attended last year will attend a shorter refresher course. The cost of the trip is $45 per first-time attendee and $30 per climber who attended last year. A late pizza dinner and breakfast are included as well as snacks and drinks. We will sleep on the cushioned floor of the facility and will not need tents. A drop cloth, air mattress and sleeping bag are required for each participant.
